FAQ
What If i want labs tests or imaging?
You will need to pay for each lab test. However, because we contract directly with lab and imaging companies, the costs are significantly reduced. With DPC a set of lab tests typically done with an annual physical would cost around $20-$30 (compared to $600 – $800 when billed to insurance). For imaging you can expect to pay around $40-50 for X-rays, $200 – $400 for CT scans, and $300 – $500 MRI’s. You get high quality imaging at free market pricing. As costs are always discussed beforehand, there will be no surprise bills. Our job is to help you navigate which tests are most appropriate for you individual needs.
Can I be a member if i have insurance?
Yes, but we will not bill them. DPC is a perfect compliment to any high deductible, low premium plan that covers catastrophic events. Your DPC membership will cover any day-to-day health care needs that can be managed in the office, over the phone, via text or e-mail as appropriate. Cost sharing co-op plans also work well with the DPC model. We are here to be a resource for you to get the best health care possible for you and your family, keeping the health care cost-to-value ratio at the forefront.
Does my membership fee cover specialty care?
No. The goal of DPC is to cover all the of the primary care needs of individuals and families at a reasonable cost.
Is direct primary care a form of insurance?
No. The intent of DPC is to offer direct and transparent primary care to the patient, without the need for middle men & insurance companies. All pricing is clear, concise, and is discussed with the patient first.
can i receive care over the phone, rather than coming in?
Yes. When appropriate, simple problems can be managed over the phone. If a visit to the clinic is appropriate, we will let you know. Your membership allows you the freedom to manage your care in a ways that makes the most sense.
